Carrd builds simple, responsive, one-page sites. It is not a link in bio tool and has never claimed to be — but it gets used as one constantly, because a one-page site with your links on it is a link in bio, and Carrd is the cheapest way to have one that is genuinely yours.
What it costs#
This is the headline: paid plans start at $9 a year, not a month. Three of them, all annual:

One correction worth stating plainly, because we had it wrong here until we checked: the $9
tier does not include a custom domain. It buys the removal of Carrd's branding and a nicer
carrd.co address. A domain of your own is Pro Standard, at $19 a year. Confirm at
Carrd Pro plans — checked 14 August 2026.
The useful number is $19 a year: that is Carrd's first tier with a custom domain. Linktree does not offer custom domains on any tier, so there is no like-for-like Linktree price to compare it with.
What you give up#
Carrd is a site builder, not a bio-page builder, and the difference shows up as work you have to do yourself:
- No bio-page-specific workflow. Carrd has Links, Buttons, text, images and containers, but you assemble them in a general one-page builder rather than follow a link-in-bio setup flow.
- Templates are starting points. After choosing one, the page is yours to arrange through Carrd's general layout and style controls.
- The advanced end is technical. Embeds arrive on Pro Standard; advanced per-element styles, JavaScript and other settings are Pro Plus features.
You are trading setup time and a bit of technical confidence for price and control. That is a good trade for people who want that control, and extra work for people who only want a list of links.
Who it suits#
Developers, indie hackers, anyone who has built a landing page before and wants maximum control at minimum cost. Also anyone whose page is really a one-page website — a product launch, an event, a CV — where the bio-link framing was never the point.
Who it does not#
Anyone who wants a bio-page-specific setup flow where the tool decides the basic structure for them. That is not a shortcoming of Carrd; it is the trade-off of using a general one-page builder.
The alternatives#
Linktree and Beacons are both faster to a finished page and slower to a custom one. Stan Store if selling is the job. Bento was the other obvious answer here until Linktree bought it and shut it down in February 2026.
